The best part of a wedding.......

The cake!!  well,  that is my thoughts anyways.  So, I hope the cake is everything I hope it will be since I am not getting to do a tasting before the wedding day.  I also did a lot of research on this as well which meant reading a lot of reviews.  I kept going back to Michele's Corner Cakes after reading her section on her website, The Baker.  I felt VERY confident that she knew what she was doing when it came to making the perfect wedding cake.  It will be a fondant cake with white and champagne custard and chocolate and white chocolate mousse layers.  Just typing that makes me want to eat some cake right now!!  I can't wait to see the finished product.

Let the wedding planning begin......

So, when I got engaged, I pretty much knew right away that I wanted to have our wedding at a winery in Napa because we both love to wine.  I decided not to hire a wedding planner and do all the planning myself.  After doing a lot of research I soon found out that Napa Valley has some weird law about getting married in a winery and having a reception as well.  If it is allowed, most wineries do not allow it too appear as if it was a wedding meaning no wedding dress at the reception.  UUUUHHHH, WHAT?????  How could I not wear my wedding dress to my our reception.  This really put a damper on my plans for a wedding at a winery.

So, I finally called one of our favorite wineries in Napa since I knew they had a huge barrel room that was primarily used for parties.  I just knew that it was going to be horribly expensive so I didn't get my hopes up too much.  Well, I finally got an email back from the winery and she said it was available on the day we chose for a our wedding day and then she told me the price..........Well, compared to what some of the Inns and Hotels in the area charged for a wedding, it really was not as bad as I thought it would and thank goodness for my Fiance having a membership there.  The wineries Wedding Coordinator told me that the Restaurant next door held several of there weddings of others that had their reception at the winery and they would also be able to cater the event as well.  YAY!!!!  This was going to save me a ton of time in my planning for sure.  I called the Restaurant and set all the plans in motion.  Well, that was easy enough, I thought.  After calling several other Vendors for cake, flowers and photographers every single one of them told me I could not have chosen a better Restaurant and winery for our wedding.  This really made me feel even better about our decision.

The next task was getting the flowers arranged.  I wanted to start planning early because I knew I would have my work cut out for me on this one as it was going to be a big expense.  I looked at tons of websites until I found the photos to go with what I had in my thoughts.  I knew I wanted a WOW factor when people walked into the wedding and receptions.  I called SO many florists in the Napa Valley, my head was spinning.  They were quoting a minimum fee of $3,000 just to get started, so I knew all the details I wanted would put this flower budget well over $6,000.  I about died because I knew my Fiance would freak.  So, I kept googling and came across the best florist I could ever ask for.

Her name is Nancy with Rainbow Balloons, Flowers and Gifts.  I sent her an email and she immediately called me and I told her what I was thinking about.  I knew just from talking to her that this was MY florist for the wedding and she was VERY resasonably priced as well.  I started sending her my ideas right away and she got to work on planning the details.  I know it was the right decision to hire her for sure!!  Very happy with her work!!!
